Résumé
From 1528 on, francis I rebuilt the château of fontainebleau at the heart of an immense forest where he enjoyed hunting. He also sought to create gardens: the queen's, the king's, the pond garden... successive alterations have given them the majesty that we see today: the construction of the grand canal under henry IV, the redevelopment of the grand parterre by le notre under louis XIV, the creation of the english garden under napoleon I. "House of the centuries", fontainebleau and its gardens form a unique whole. Freed from the cliches of an architectural study and symbolic analysis, this work has been conceived as a historical promenade. Memories resuscitated by vincent droguet, curator, and the photographs of Laurence Toussaint.
