I haven't sobbed over a book like this since reading Dumbledore's death….in 2005.
Just minutes ago I was weeping uncontrollably, and heaving and bawling my eyes out as I read pages 610 through 620. That alone earns this book a five-star rating. The tears blurred my vision so much that finishing it was a real challenge. This deep emotional engagement and caring for the story and characters is exactly what I seek in books. That as wall as vibes and my level of entertainment while reading. And this book was all of these.
Edit: I realised I lied because I have indeed sobbed myself to sleep for three consecutive days, my soul hollow, after reading Manacled last year. But this heart wrenching soul ripping gem of a story isn’t technically a book (yet).
