My roman empire. The whole novel revolves around the male gaze and how it affects women, and it depicts this beautifully. I think no man, including me, will ever be able to experience nor understand the intricateness of being a woman and how a patriarchal society and its values influence young women for the rest of their lives. In my opinion, this is what the five sisters faced, and refused to comply to.
There is a mysterious mist in the novel that lingers whilst the story unfolds, and I think it can never be explained with words as well the feeling you get when you read this book does.
